waiting for the worms

I'm going crazy with anticipation waiting for my two worm shipments to arrive. I've had the temporary bin ready with damp bedding for a couple of days now. The worms should be arriving within the next four days- 1 lb from Canada, and 1 lb from Vermont. Same species, but nothing like a little genetic diversity, right? Last time I was so excited about getting some creepy crawlies was 11 years ago when I got a pet tarantula!

  1. Hi Strumelia,
Welcome to the world of vermicomposting. I can definitely relate to your excitement in getting started. I can also assure you that you won't be disappointed.

My family has been vermicomposting for several years now. The worms are just as fascinating now as they were when we got started.

    Wishing you all the best.

  2. Thanks Jenn! I'm honored that you checked out my blog. Most of my active blogging is in my dulcimer music blog, but I couldn't resist posting here about my coming worms. :)

I can't wait to take some photos of my worms when they arrive.

  3. Take a picture of your worms? Uh, just how big are they? I seem to remember a Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode where the movie was about giant carniverous worms. I hope these are not the kind you are getting.

  4. Well you never know. Maybe I can train them to defend the house from intruders.
    They're actually LITTLE worms...but there'll be about 2000 of them. =8-O
